  • The Cancer Institute of NSW is holding the 24th Lorne Cancer Conference in Lorne, VIC on the 9th to the 11th of February, 2012. This meeting has a long successful history with a great ambience in a beautiful location. Juxtaposed between the Lorne Protein and Genome Meetings, it has a strong international and national scientific content with delegates represent many of the major hospitals, universities, research institutes and biotechnology companies within Australia.   • The Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) are hosting their Cancer Care Coordination Conference 2012 at the Novotel St Kilda, Melbourne, on the 6th and 7th of March 2012. The Third Cancer Care Coordination Conference builds on the work presented at their previous conferences and the exciting developments since March 2010. You will have the opportunity to actively participate in a variety of thought-provoking sessions, topics, and networking events.
    The Conference will inform on best practice in areas that increasingly impact coordinated care, including sustainability of Coordinator roles into the future, the unique needs of the elderly patient, survivorship issues, and care coordination of adolescents and young adults. Guided by the expertise of leaders in these fields, attendees will learn from one another about improving and sustaining programs and the development of best practice approaches, including "tools of practice", in cancer care coordination with a focus, as always, on the patient and their carers. Attendees will also receive a thorough understanding of the progress that is being made with the COSA Cancer Care Coordinator Interest Group and how to maximise the benefits through participation.   • The Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) are hosting Cosa Neuro-Oncology Clinical Professional Day at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, on Friday the 9th of March 2012. It features two of the world's leading clinicians in the field of neuro-oncology as international guest speakers: Professor Martin van den Bent, Neuro-oncologist, The Netherlands and Professor Paul Kleihues, Neuro-pathologist, Switzerland. The COSA Clinical Professional Day will be held strategically parallel to the RCPA Pathology Update 2012 meeting and just prior to the Genetics and Genomics in Personalised Medicine conference.   • NCCN 17th Annual Conference: Clinical Practice Guidelines & Quality Cancer Care

  • The Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR) and the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA), invite you to attend the 9th International Donor Registry Conference (IDRC) and WMDA Working Group Meetings at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from 1-5 May 2012. The conference theme, 'HPC transplantation in the next decade: bringing experience to embrace the future', and the program will provide an opportunity for discussion and the exchange of ideas between professionals working in clinical programs in hospitals, clinical and research laboratories, donor registries and cord blood banks. The conference will explore the challenges that the future will bring for clinical HPC transplantation, tissue typing, cord blood banking and searching. Prominent international and regional speakers will explore questions about the new possibilities for registries, science and technology, and the ethical issues that they raise as well as the potential impacts on donors.   • The Medical Oncology Group of Australia will host the Australia & Asia Pacific Clinical Oncology Research Development Workshop (ACORD) 2012 Workshop from 9 to 15 September 2012 on the Sunshine Coast, Australia and encourages health professionals to apply to attend. Held every 2 years since 2004 the ACORD Workshop is designed as a week-long intensive training program focused on the essentials of clinical trials design for cancer researchers in all oncology subspecialties from Australia and the Asia Pacific region. Up to 60 participants are selected through a competitive application process to join in the Workshop. Participants represent a wide range of oncology backgrounds, with specialities including Medical, Surgical and Radiation Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care. Each participant receives individual guidance and assistance from the faculty with the protocols they are selected to develop at the Workshop, and work collaboratively with their international peers. Fellowships covering fees, travel expenses, accommodation and meals are available to successful applicants and are open online at www.acordworkshop.org.au from 7 November 2011 through to 27 February 2012.   • Hosted by the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute, the Sydney International Breast Cancer Congress 2012 (SIBCC) (formerly the Leura Conference) will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from 23-26 October 2012. SIBCC 2012 will bring together Australian health professionals and international registrants for an innovative, multidisciplinary conference. SIBCC 2012 is also bringing together Australia's leading medical, nursing and breast cancer groups including BreastSurg ANZ, the Australian Society for Breast Disease, the Australian New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Groups, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre, Cancer Australia, the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia and the McGrath Foundation. The SIBCC has also successfully attracted the 8th International Cancer Screening Network (ICSN).
