  • delivered flexibly in terms of time, place, and mode (ie, in web, data stick or text-based forms)
  • tailored to the needs of particular courses
  • used as whole or in part

EdCaN Scholarships to CNSA 14th Winter Congress

The EdCaN project team would like to hear from users of the EdCaN Framework and learning resources. They are offering two $1500 scholarships for users to attend the CNSA 14th Winter Congress. To be eligible for a scholarship, submit an abstract that relates to the implementation of the EdCaN Framework or learning resources for an oral presentation or poster at CNSA 14th Winter Congress. In the case of multiple applications, a selection process will be undertaken which will consider the recommendations of the CNSA abstract review committee and perceived relevance and impact of the paper for the EdCaN project.

For further information, please contact Kylie Ash via email: k.ash@qut.edu.au or phone: 07 3138 6128.

About the EdCaN resources

Case-based learning resources

The EdCaN project developed 11 case-based learning resources.

Each case study:

  • is centred around the experience of the person with cancer and their family, and provides learning opportunities to enable the development of capabilities for nurses in cancer control
  • includes the following features:
    • aim, rationale and objectives
    • evidence based text
    • video resources that follow the persons cancer journey
    • a series of learning activities that challenge students in their thinking about particular aspects of the scenario and facilitate reflection on learning/practice
  • is supported by teaching and learning tools which include:
    • a range of 'thinking' tools, for example a notepad/journalling function for private reflection
    • selected readings and/or links to relevant resources.
  • is evidence based ie based on a comprehensive review of the evidence to ensure that the content and learning approaches incorporated in the learning resources are based on best available evidence
  • reflects the context of cancer control in Australia ie. Diversity in demographics, backgrounds, settings of care, diagnoses, and responses to cancer.
