You can proactively contribute to the development of cancer care and control by accepting opportunities to build the capacity of the cancer workforce in Australia.
Become involved by participating and playing an active role in determining the future agenda of cancer care in Australia by engaging in tasks such as: mentoring health professionals new to cancer care; taking on leadership positions in cancer networks and organisations; developing communities of practice that share knowledge, information and resources; consulting, teaching and sharing skills and expertise to educate future generations of cancer professionals; and participating in projects and research to discover new information, techniques, treatments and services that will enhance outcomes for cancer patients.
For more information and ideas for advancing both your career and the cancer care field, see the professional development pathways on Cancer Learning.
There are many funding grants available in Australia to facilitate the development of cancer education and research initiatives. Cancer Learning encourages you and your organisation to submit grant applications to develop your own resources and learning activities or to conduct research projects in your area of practice. In addition, you may wish to contact Cancer Learning to discuss shared opportunities that may be available, such as applying collaboratively with Cancer Learning for a funding grant or tender, undertaking research partnerships; or commissioning Cancer Learning to develop educational initiatives for your organisation.
